Hello everyone! Let’s celebrate this wonderful Friday with another edition of the Employee Spotlight Series! This week, we would like to introduce you to David Theobald! David is a 340B Analyst and joined the SpendMend team about seven months ago. It was great getting to know David better, and hear about his hobbies and passions! He spends his time away from work by climbing in the gym, outdoor top rope climbing, and occasionally bouldering. His interest in climbing sparked from a fellow friend/co-worker at SpendMend who showed him the ropes (literally!). If anyone is interested in facing their fear of heights, David is your guy! David also has a hobby a little closer to the ground. Golfing has been a large part of his life for about 10 years! He goes to the driving range a couple times a week to fine tune his skills. Another fun fact about David is that he is a big fan of metal and EDM music. During work, he likes to listen to something high tempo and energetic to keep up with his upbeat work ethic! A few of his favorite metal artists and bands are: Between the Buried and Me, Every Time I Die, Protest the Hero, and Spiritbox. For EDM: Nero, Porter Robinson, and Bassnectar. If you need to add some new songs to your playlist, be sure to check these artists and bands out!

David does a great job at SpendMend and always gives his 100% to the team. We had several of David’s co-workers sing their high praise of him and his influence on the team. Chelsea Violette, Director of Optimization for SpendMend Pharmacy, said “We are so happy to have Dave bring his hospital pharmacy buyer and analyst experience to our team. In his short time with us so far, he has already helped streamline our inventory and purchasing validation processes. We look forward to other efficiencies his insight will bring to the team as he grows through his role.” We appreciate all of  your hard work and dedication to the team, David! Thank you!

Interview with David:

What is your role at SpendMend?
340B Analyst

How long have you been with SpendMend?
Just about 7 months (started beginning of December 2020)

How did you first learn about SpendMend?
A manager I worked with at my previous job, who now works for SpendMend, told me about the company and let me know when there was an open position.

What 3 words would you use to describe SpendMend?
Exemplary, Esteemed, Supportive

What advice do you have for prospective candidates that want to join the SpendMend team?
This isn’t necessarily SpendMend specific, but don’t be afraid to be yourself and show some personality in interviews. Especially when interviewing with potential coworkers you’d be interacting with daily, they likely care just as much about how well they would get along with you as they care about your work history.

Why do you look forward to coming to work?
Well I am fortunate in that I get to work remotely, but I like that I get to work and interact with coworkers and clients from all across the country.

Before working at SpendMend, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
My first job was on the maintenance crew for a golf course. Basically it entailed landscaping, mowing, working on the sprinkler system and drainage on the course. This one isn’t really a job, but I’ll include it: I’ve been in the trial for Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine since August 2020.

What is one fun fact about you?
I have a rod and four pins in my right leg from when I broke my tibia and fibula playing football in high school.

What type of music or podcasts do you listen to during the workday?
I usually listen to something high tempo and/or energetic like metal or EDM.

Do you have any hobbies or participate in any activities outside of work?
Occasionally climbing. Usually do trivia one evening a week. Recently, I have been going to the driving range a couple times a week to hopefully become not bad at golf.

What is the best part of serving the healthcare market?
Helping hospitals and clinics save costs on drugs and sticking it to big pharma!
