Happy Friday! Let’s celebrate Labor Day weekend with an edition of the Employee Spotlight Series. This week we are highlighting Denise Bisogno! Denise is involved with Inside Sales and has been a part of the SpendMend team with the acquisition of VIE. When asked why she looks forward to coming to work, Denise states, “Working with a dynamic team who helps to support health leaders in new and differentiated opportunities throughout the nation.” A fun fact about Denise is that she enjoys listening to podcasts and music during her workday! She is a major TED Talk lover, and some of her favorites are The Power of Vulnerability with Brene Brown, The Why and Leaders Who Inspire Action with Simon Sinek, and What Makes us Influential with Jon Levy. For music, Denise enjoys listening to Jack Johnson, John Mayer, and Tom Petty! If you need some new podcasts or music recommendations to listen to, Denise has some great tastes! Another fun fact about Denise is that she loves to cook and bake. She started in the kitchen at a young age, watching her aunts cook. She enjoys creating new recipes and adding her own flare. Her specialty dishes include lasagna, paella, and chicken marsala! Denise’s baking specialties include rustic semolina bread, cinnamon rolls/biscotti/scones, and hazelnut danish. We can’t wait to try your creations at the next SpendMend event (hint, hint!). Other than cooking and baking, a hobby that Denise also enjoys is house DIY projects. She gets her inspiration from unique ways like focusing on certain décor pieces and then adding to them to make them her own. Currently, she is re-doing her master bedroom bath. Be sure to check out the interview below to learn more about Denise’s process for a DIY project.

Denise does superb in her role and is greatly appreciated by her team for her dedication. Nicole Thompson, Director of Business Development, said “Denise is a great team player with a positive can-do attitude. I’ve really enjoyed getting to work with her over the last few weeks. She has great ideas and work ethic. I’m excited to see her ongoing contributions to SpendMend.” Thank you, Denise, for your positivity and enthusiasm for your work! We are grateful to have you on the SpendMend Team.

This month, but I was with VIE for 21 years

How did you first learn about SpendMend?

From Lisa Miller, the founder of VIE

What 3 words would you use to describe SpendMend?

Dynamic, results-driven, comprehensive

Why do you look forward to coming to work?

Working with a dynamic team who helps to support health leaders in new and differentiated opportunities throughout the nation

Before working at SpendMend, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

I actually provided social services within a maximum security division of prison for 11.5 years

What is one fun fact about you?

I love to cook and bake

When did your love for cooking and baking start?

I watched my aunts cook at a young age – always in the kitchen.

What is your specialty dish?

My specialty dishes I would say are lasagna, paella, or chicken marsala I’m known for my soups to come winter and make copious amounts. When it comes to Baking specialties are rustic semolina bread and cinnamon rolls/biscotti/ scones and a hazelnut danish, which is my son-in-law’s favorite.

What is your favorite part about cooking and baking, and why?

Anthony Bourdain said “When someone cooks for you, they are saying something. They’re telling you about themselves: where they come from, who they are, what makes them happy.” I think this is for sure true. You cook and create to share goodness and time together with others and I think that says it all.

What type of music or podcasts do you listen to during the workday?

Total TED talk junkie, Beckers podcasts, Spend Mends and VIE Healthcare’s Lisa Miller’s podcasts, For music- Jack Johnson, John Mayer, and Tom Petty rank up there

What type of TED Talks do you enjoy listening to?

I think my fav TED talks would be Brene Brown The Power of Vulnerability, Simon Sinek- The Why and Leaders who inspire action, and Jon Levy -What makes us influential

Do you have any hobbies or participate in any activities outside of work?

house DIY projects, lots of dinner parties and my big family fills this space for now

Where do you get your inspiration/help from for a DIY project? Can you describe your favorite project completed?

I get inspiration in weird ways, so for instance I bought a funky-looking bowl sink shaped like a leaf and from there I mounted it on a cabinet – gave it legs, and paired it with a unique style faucet – from there I got the inspiration for the mirror and lighting choices, searched out unique paint color, wall-art, and the powder room reno was built around a funky sink…I’m currently re-doing my master bedroom bath

Do you interact with

Potential Clients

Can you describe an interaction when you helped a client or a supplier that stands out in your mind?

I called a potential client about 3 months into his position and was left a big mess. We talked for a while and with every challenge he was experiencing, I couldn’t help but explain how we could fix it. He said he was going to let the call hit voicemail but picked up… He said how glad he was to hear how things have changed and that he could see light at the end of his tunnel.

What was the best compliment you’ve ever been paid by a client or supplier?

I’m told a lot at the end of the process- “Thanks for being persistent” to me it’s a compliment because w/ the day-to-day fires to put out people and calls get lost in the sauce so to speak. Persistence stands out and has a helping hand to offer

What is the best part of serving the healthcare market?

When you have the privilege to serve and support a community pillar such as a hospital or health system- it just compels you to want to bring good news everywhere.

What is your favorite in-house event? (specific potluck, chili cook-off, bring your kid to work day, etc.)

The great comradery of our team meeting on ZOOM and just being authentic, unpretentious, and fun but getting it done at such an expert level. Totally in awe of the entire make-up of people in Spend Mend!’s team

Do you want to shout out a co-worker who has helped or inspired you at SpendMend?

Hands down Nicole Thompson has been tremendous as a leader, mentor, and guide!

SpendMend?
